The Men's HOKA Speedgoat 5 is a trail workhorse that has the durability and comfort to handle countless miles on a wide variety of terrain. With a CMEVA midsole that is lighter than ever, the Speedgoat 5 has a high level of cushioning and protection making it great for longer runs and extended adventures on the trails. The outsole has an upgraded version of Vibram Megagrip that claws into any type of terrain and can be trusted in different conditions. Initial impressions is that this is going to be amazing trail shoe for me. I've been in Altra Olympus and Timps for the past few years, and while I do still like/love the Altra lineup, I wanted something with a little more cushion and a little less weight. I had tried a Hoka road shoe before, but found them to be to narrow for my foot and caused massive blistering. A friend bought them in wide and loved them, so, with the help of the amazing Jen, I ordered a pair. First 5 mile trail run I found them to be nimble, light, sure footed and grippy. I did have to lace lock them in to keep the heel from slipping, but once I did that they felt amazing. I'll update later if my opinion changes after I get another 50 miles or so in them.
