Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22

Runners looking for a cushioned, soft daily trainer with support - look no further.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 provides support for runners and walkers who pronate through its GuideRail technology. Brooks first introduced the GuideRail system (think bowling alley bumpers for your feet) a few years ago and its here to stay.

The greatest update for the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 is the upgraded midsole. Check out what our reviewer Sydney had to say about her experience in the shoe.

FIT

The Adrenaline GTS 22's Toebox felt roomy but not too sloppy allowing for natural toe splay. The fit of the upper wrapped around the foot securely. The heel counter felt very plush but also slightly loose, so I had to adjust my lacing methods for a more secure fit. Great news the Adrenaline 22's length felt true to size, something you can always rely on from Brooks. The tongue shape accommodates with the foot well and I did not experience any rubbing or discomfort. While the upper gave the perfect amount of stretch allowing for natural foot movement.

The big upgrade on the Adrenaline GTS 22 is that it has 100% DNA Loft for the midsole. This cushion will allow for a soft, smooth ride while being incredibly durable. The outsole gives plenty of good traction for road running.

STABILITY

The shoe feels extremely stable. The guide rails long the medial and lateral sides of the shoe helped keep my foot aligned in a neutral position while running and I did not experience any overpronation. The Adrenaline GTS 22 felt very supported through its enhanced cushioning levels and naturally broader platform.

SPEED

I would recommend this shoe as a daily trainer especially for easy runs and recovery runs in which you want a great cushioned experience while staying very supported. The cushioning makes the shoe feel slightly heavy, I personally would most likely rotate in a different shoe for tempo runs and races.

COMPARISON

This shoe is going to be similar in support of other stability shoes in the midlevel cushion category. I do feel that this shoe will have the most plush feel within the category. It feels very similar to the Adrenaline GTS 21 in terms of support, but goes a step up in terms of overall cushion with the improvement of 100% DNA Loft. Shoes from other brands to compare it to would be the New Balance 860 and Saucony Guide.

Our reviewer Sydney had good things to say about the new model but said she was surprised by how heavy the shoe felt despite Brooks cutting some weight from this model. If the weight of the shoe is important to you, know the Adrenaline 22 weighs 10.2 oz for men and 9.1 oz for women.

PREVIOUS VERSIONS

The Brooks Adrenaline has always been a premier stability shoe. Brooks did a great job staying true to the foundation of the shoe by not changing too much and only improving the ride and comfort of the shoe.  It also feels as if the transition through my gait cycle feels more natural in this model and smoother than previous versions.

WHAT WE THINK

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 is a shoe for people who want a smooth cushioned ride and reliable support for mild to high levels of overpronation. I would recommend this shoe if you want to great cushioning while running with a slightly higher drop from the heel to toe offset.

I have been running since middle school cross country which means I have been running for close to 9 years. I have experience at both the high school and collegiate levels with both cross country and track. I also have experience with long-distance training for half marathons and marathons. Some other interests I have outside of running include hiking, backpacking, yoga, and other team sports. I love to run a mix of roads and trails. I work in the running industry at Running Lab as a sales associate and plan to make health promotion a priority in my career as a future physician. My favorite thing about running is that it brings people together from different backgrounds and circumstances to share a love for a common passion and goal. I also love the joy it can bring people as they improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
